Are you a planner?  If so, these are the things to think about: 

1. •where you plan to hang the portraits - it's great to know your decorating style, whether you need an image to be horizontal or vertical and if you are wanting a single portrait or a collection of images framed together. 
   

2. •coordinating the family's clothing - J. Crew, Gap and Gymboree are very helpful with getting outfits that look good together, but aren't too matchy. If you are wanting the portraits for a specific room in your home, lay out the clothing in that room and squint your eyes.  If a clothing item really stands out, you may want to exchange it for something that has a more similar tone.
   

3. •planning the day of your portrait - time of day and time of year affect where we will be able to photograph and how happy your children are.  With young children, morning times are best, but if you are wanting an outdoor portrait by our historic rock wall, late afternoon is better.
